Standards and certifications in plumbing

In the plumbing field, sanitary appliances and components must meet certain standards and certifications recognized in Canada and North America in order to ensure their safety, compliance, and performance.

These standards are established by independent organizations and are used to verify that products comply with the applicable plumbing codes, particularly for residential and commercial installations.

At Les Choix du Plombier, we place great importance on product compliance. The appliances we select are designed to meet the requirements of professional plumbers, contractors, and building codes.

Certifications allow, among other things, to confirm:

  • the quality of the materials used

  • Product safety

  • The resistance and durability of the components

  • compliance with plumbing codes

  • The performance and efficiency of water use

  • Accessibility for certain facilities

Choosing a certified product provides assurance that it has been tested and approved according to standards recognized by the industry.

Main certifications used in plumbing

cUPC (IAPMO)

The cUPC certification is one of the most recognized in North America. The «c» confirms that the product complies with Canadian plumbing codes. It certifies that the device has been independently tested to ensure its safety and long-term performance.

CSA (Canadian Standards Association)

The CSA brand is the absolute benchmark in the country. For our products, it validates compliance with the CSA B45 Series (sanitary appliances) and CSA B125 (water taps). It guarantees controlled flow, pressure resistance, and safe metal content.

ETL – Intertek

The cETL seal is issued by Intertek, a laboratory accredited on the same level as the CSA. This certification is particularly crucial for our technological products (smart toilets, steam showers). It confirms that the device complies with both plumbing standards and Canadian electrical safety standards.
